As a result, it is possible to observe obstruction of the oesophagus in the areas closest to the stomach and dilation of the areas above it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The main surgical procedures commonly performed for achalasia of the cardia include the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Laparoscopic myotomy (the muscular layer of the oesophagus is partially excised so that its tone returns to normal);<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Resection (complete excision of the altered parts of the oesophagus).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It should be noted that achalasia of the cardia is considered a rather dangerous disease that can lead to the development of a number of more dangerous pathologies. These include, for example, cancer of the oesophagus and the cardiac sphincter of the oesophagus.
